The current number espoused by many of the marketing ‘gurus’ out there is around 1,000 words. That comes with a big caveat.
It turns out that each search produces a completely unique set of results based on what Google believes serves the user best. This means that there is no one standard set of rules that dictates all search results. For you, this means that some of the search terms we’re targeting may need 4,000 words, while others need 500. It is completely variable.
We’re able to make an educated guess on this by assessing the existing search results to see what Google is already choosing to prioritize. We take your keyword, then look at the top 10 results to understand what those pages look like in order to determine what we need to build.
